Pentatonix singer Scott Hoying, along with his long-time partner and husband, Mark Hoying, announced that the couple has welcomed their baby girl. The duo revealed the news online through a social media post, sharing the announcement as well as revealing her name in an adorable and quirky video.

The happy couple took to their Instagram account in order to share with the world that they have welcomed their first child, their baby girl, into the family. With the caption, “SHE’S HERE! WE’RE DADS! 🥹 Our baby’s name is…”, the family announced the arrival of their first baby, Birdie James.In the video, the couple goes about their day, while singing their own version of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘My Favorite Things’, listing out things about their baby and wondering what her name should be. In the video, they named out a lot of celebrities, which also included Zendaya, Ariana Grande, Queen Latifah, as well as all of the members of BLACKPINK. In the end, they announce that they are dads now and that their daughter’s name is Birdie James.

While in conversation with PEOPLE, the couple opened up about how it felt to welcome their baby girl into the world. The duo revealed that it was all thanks to Scott’s sister, Lauren, who volunteered to be the egg donor.Further on, Scott added “It really was beautiful. It was this overwhelming flashback of all these memories growing up and being like, ‘Am I going to find love? Is gay marriage going to be legal? Am I going to be able to have a kid?’” He also shared that the couple had been trying for the past 4 to 5 years, and that “it’s been a long time coming.”When he first laid his eyes on her, the 34-year-old singer admitted that “I started crying because it was just such a beautiful thing that I feel really, really lucky.”

The two explained in the interview that there was a special reason behind the meaning of their daughter’s name, Birdie James. Scott shared, “The first song I ever learned to sing when I was a little, little kid was ‘Put On a Happy Face,’ from Bye Bye Birdie. We wanted something that was musical, but not too on the nose. And we also just loved that it felt… Feels like it could work at any age.” Her name, James, comes from Mark’s middle name.Concluding his talk, Scott also talked about how he has been manifesting that their daughter becomes a singer like him when she grows up, though adds that she will have the freedom to do and be whatever she wishes to be when she grows up.
