Many celebrities in Bollywood have lent a helping hand by donating to charities and relief funds to ensure that the public gets the help they need. In 2019, during one of the flash floods in Mumbai, many celebrities came forward at the time to donate money to help people. The late Lata Mangeshkar had shared Rs 11 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund at the time, while Aamir Khan had contributed Rs 25 lakhs. The relief fund was used to provide shelter and food to families and people who had lost their dwellings during the floods.
Salman Khan’s helping hand during the COVID-19 pandemic
When the world was dealing with one of the worst pandemics, and everyone was quarantined, Salman Khan used his foundation to lend a helping hand to those in need. When many daily wage workers were left with no job and no income to survive because of the pandemic, he donated money and had it directly transferred into their accounts. Khan donated the money to around 25,000 daily wage workers.

In 2005, when the Mumbai floods claimed the lives of many people, Hrithik Roshan was one of the many celebrities who provided a helping hand in the time of crisis. The ‘Alpha’ actor had helped a girl from drowning during the floods at the time. A couple of students had formed a human chain in order to reach their hostel; however, because of one wrong step, she had fallen into deep waters. The actor had been nearby at Amitabh Bachchan’s house, and had helped the girl to safety. The incident had come to light after one of the girls had posted about the same on X (formerly known as Twitter). The post had read, “Ten feet short of the hostel, a girl slipped out of our human chain and went underwater. Hrithik emerged from Prateeksha and rescued her. A lesson that heroes don’t need the camera on to perform.”
