The nostalgic video, shared by the veteran actor, has delighted fans as it reunites the beloved characters from the cult comedy while building excitement for ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla 2’, ahead of its release on August 26, 2026. Let’s take a closer look.

Anupam Kher, Boman Irani recreate the viral trend

In the clip, Anupam stood at the front dressed as his iconic character Kamal Kishore Khosla, while Boman, Ranvir and Parvin performed the trend behind him. For longtime fans of Khosla Ka Ghosla, the moment carried an extra layer of nostalgia, given that Anupam’s Khosla and Boman’s Khurana were bitter rivals throughout the original film over a disputed piece of land.Sharing the video, Anupam captioned it, “Khoslas and Khurana were never in sync. NOT EVEN HERE! Jai Ho! 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 #KhoslaKaGhosla2 #Trending #ShootTime (sic)” tagging it with references to ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla 2’, which is set to release in theatres on August 28.

How the ‘Mere Mehboob’ trend became an internet sensation

The viral trend traces back to influencer Abhinav Bisht, who filmed himself dancing to the song with friends during a CJP-led NEET protest in Delhi. While Bisht had shared several videos from the protest, this particular reel exploded online, amassing 7.2 million views and turning him into an overnight social media sensation. His follower count jumped from around 3,000 to over 720,000 almost instantly, and he currently has more than 912,000 followers on Instagram. Notably, his account was also briefly suspended before being restored.

Anupam Kher’s message to CJP protesters

Kher had previously voiced his support for the students protesting under the CJP banner, backing their demand for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. At the same time, he cautioned protesters against letting political parties or other external groups co-opt their movement. He said that when outside groups, particularly political parties, join a protest, their real intent is often to serve their own interests rather than advance the cause at hand.Addressing the students, he said, “I want to say this thing as a big brother to you all, when external parties start entering your protest, especially political parties… Their aim is not to advance your cause, but to fulfil their own vested interests.”He warned that while more participants might initially seem to strengthen a movement, such groups can end up using the protesters’ voice for their own agenda, eventually taking control of the narrative and leaving the original cause, and the protesters’ credibility, worse off.
