David Bautista is ready to take on the leading role in the upcoming ‘God of War’ series. The character was originally meant to be played by Ryan Hurst; however, following an on-set injury, he was removed from the show. Rumours had arisen in the last month that Bautista met the character’s requirements; however, nothing had been confirmed until now.

Deadline reported that the beloved Marvel actor, best known for his role in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ is now joining the ‘God of War’ series. Replacing Ryan Hurst, the studio confirmed that Bautista was the perfect fit for the physically demanding role.Prep for the show will begin again this month, and production is officially set to begin mid-October. It was also confirmed in the reports that none of the footage from Hurst’s version will be used in the new setup; everything will be filmed from scratch. The recasting procedure set the production team up for quite a delay.The show is based on a popular video game and follows a father-and-son duo who set out on a perilous journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye.

What happened to Ryan Hurst on the set of ‘God of War’?

Ryan Hurst, who was originally meant to play Kratos, had already started filming for the upcoming series. However, earlier this month, the outlet reported that the actor had suffered a major injury while filming one of the action scenes. He had already been filming for the show for four months. The creators of the show had planned to resume filming after his recovery, though due to the nature of his injury, Hurst was told it would take a lot of physical therapy and around 6 months to recover. Following this update, the studio behind the upcoming live-action series announced that they are looking to recast Kratos.
