Several people were injured after shots were fired during an event in Schachen, Aarau, early Sunday morning, according to Aargau cantonal police.Police said it was not immediately clear whether anyone had been killed or who fired the shots. A major police operation was underway in the area, with a large number of officers deployed.In a post on X, the police said, “Aarau: Nighttime shots at event in Schachen. Several victims. Major police operation underway. Stay away from the area. More info to follow.”Authorities urged the public to stay away from Aarau Schachen while the operation continued. The Aarau swimming pool was also ordered to remain closed until further notice.According to local newspaper Blick, the shooting occurred shortly after 2.30am near the horse racing track, where visitors had gathered for the “Aarau Rave”. The newspaper reported that a video captured the sound of multiple gunshots at around 2.35am, although the footage could not be independently verified.Vanessa Rumpold, a media spokesperson for the Aargau Cantonal Police, told Blick that the incident was “located at the horse racing track.”“It is not yet clear what exactly happened,” Rumpold added. The police can currently only confirm “several shots being fired at a large group of people.”According to BRK News, an Army Super Puma helicopter was also deployed to the scene.Police later reiterated the closure of the swimming pool, saying on X: “Due to the ongoing major police operation, Aarau Swimming Pool will remain closed until further notice. Visitors are requested to stay away from Aarau Schachen.”
