Parton’s niece, Jada Star, recently sat down for a chat with Extra to honour her aunt and talk about her memories. While talking about her cancer diagnosis, Star revealed that she felt the singer did not wish to bother anyone with the information.She added, “She never wanted to worry anybody. So I think it was just a shock.” Star also revealed that dealing with Parton’s passing has left her and the entire family with a lot of emotions to deal with. However, the love that Parton received from across the world helped her family.She added, “All of these tributes have helped so much to help us all through it. I can’t remember a life without her. She would also tell us to start drying it up and start trying to get back to work and love each other real hard. She was just a trip.”

The beloved singer and actress passed away on August 25, as confirmed by her nephew Bryan Seaver, who posted a video on all of her social media channels to share the news with the world. In another statement that her representatives provided to PEOPLE, they revealed that the singer had been battling cancer for some time now and had passed away after being admitted to a treatment facility.The statement read, “Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope, and integrity into everything she touched. Her unmatched generosity reached the lives of countless people whom she would never meet, yet she was always there to offer a helping hand,” while adding, “Dolly’s unconditional love for all people was the guiding force for her lasting impact. After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, surrounded by loved ones.”A private funeral was held for Dolly in Nashville, and she was laid to rest near her late husband, Carl Dean, who passed away last year at the age of 62.
