Jason Ritter remembered his father, John Ritter, earlier this year, who was a famed actor and comedian in the entertainment industry. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jason has been making a name for himself in the industry. In one of his latest appearances, the star opened up about the bond that he and his father shared and how he keeps his memories alive 23 years after his passing.

In April, while featuring on the ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name’ podcast with Ted Danson in April this year, Ritter had opened up about missing his father and how he tends to keep his memory alive, especially since the actor and comedian passed away almost 23 years ago.During one of the segments of the podcast, Danson had asked him, “Does your dad ever hop in when you’re acting and go for a ride? Mine does. I can literally go, ‘Where the f— did that come from? Oh . . . Everything will come out slightly like my dad.” To this, Jason had wholly agreed and shared that this was one of the ways that he kept his father alive. He shared, “That definitely happens to me. In auditions, I would come in, and I would do it the way I had practiced a hundred times, and it was probably kind of rigid. And then every once in a while, a casting director would go, ‘Try it this way.’ And I go, ‘Oh, that’s great. I have no idea what to do there.’ And I just sort of jump off the cliff and try it.”He further added at the time, “And there have been times where those have been the best moments in my auditions, and I’m like, ‘That didn’t feel like I did that.'”
Jason Ritter on the resemblance he has with his father
During the podcast, he also shared that he sees that there are a lot of similarities between him and his father, and he has a tendency to embrace all of this. The ‘Matlock’ star shared, “I’m not aware of all of the ways in which he influenced me. So sometimes I’ll be watching Matlock or something, and I’ll go, ‘Oh my gosh, that was just so his face.’ Which is weird because I’ve had people tell me that, but I’m seeing it more and more myself now.”
How Jason Ritter dealt with his father’s death
During the podcast, Ritter had also been open about how it was like for him to deal with his father’s demise. He shared that he was 23 years old at the time, and because of this, he got the most time out of all of his siblings with his father. Other than that, he also admitted that he started becoming more responsible towards the people around him. The ‘Three’s Company’ actor has been in the industry for years now, and he further concluded the post by adding, “I have ups and downs, and grief is such a strange boat to be on.“John Ritter passed away on September 11, 2003, at the age of 54. He had suffered from an aortic dissection, which is a serious tear in the body’s main artery.
