Shooting and weightlifting will lead India’s medal hopes on Day 4, while the men’s badminton team will play for a place in the gold medal match.
Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker will be one of the main attractions of the day. She will compete in the women’s 10m air pistol qualification alongside Suruchi Inder Singh and Esha Singh. The trio will also take part in the team event, and Bhaker, Suruchi and Esha will compete in the individual final if they qualify.
Weightlifting will also be in focus as Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu begins her campaign in the women’s 49kg category. She will be aiming to win her first Asian Games medal. Later in the day, Gyaneshwari Yadav will compete in the women’s 53kg event.
India’s men’s badminton team, which has already assured itself of a medal after beating Japan in the quarterfinals, will face China in the semifinal. Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, Tharun Mannepalli and the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are part of India’s squad for the tie.
India will also be in action in hockey and wushu, along with several other sports, as the contingent looks to add to its medal tally on another packed day at the Games.
