Ananya Panday has opened the doors to her first home in Mumbai, offering a glimpse into the 1,100-square-foot Bandra apartment designed by Gauri Khan. According to Architectural Digest, the actor’s home combines soft colours, natural light, indoor greenery and custom-made furniture to create a space that feels both personal and relaxed. For Panday, the apartment also represents an important step towards independence and adulthood.“I think it has become a symbol and metaphor for me actually growing up and taking responsibility,” Panday told the publication back in 2025 while discussing what owning her own home means to her.

Ananya Panday wanted her home to feel like an extension of her personality

Panday’s first home is located only a few floors away from her parents’ residence in Bandra, but the apartment gives the actor a space of her own. She had long imagined what she would do differently once she had a home, including choosing her own cutlery and creating her own style of hosting. The apartment immediately reflects that personality, with a prominent pink entrance door leading into a corridor featuring pink fluted walls. Similar tones appear in the bedroom and walk-in wardrobe, while the kitchen brings in baby-blue cabinetry and white countertops.

Gauri Khan brings pink accents, mirrors and natural light into the Bandra apartment

Gauri Khan was a natural choice for the interiors, given her longstanding relationship with Panday’s family. The designer has previously worked on homes for several Bollywood personalities, while her friendship with Panday’s parents, Chunky and Bhavana Panday, goes back years.Panday said she did not need to give Khan extensive instructions because of their personal equation. “Honestly, I didn’t have to say much to her because I’ve grown up around her and she’s been like another mother to me,” she said. The living and dining areas follow a more restrained palette of beige and cream. Custom furniture from Gauri Khan Designs, textured walls, wallpapers, rugs and fluted details add visual depth without making the relatively compact apartment feel crowded. Mirrors positioned around the living and dining spaces further enhance the sense of openness.

The living room and balcony are Ananya Panday’s favourite spaces

Large windows overlooking the leafy lanes of Bandra allow plenty of daylight into the apartment. Indoor plants and a spacious balcony add to its breezy character, while the living area doubles as a comfortable space for relaxing and entertaining. For Panday, the spot near the balcony is particularly special. “I can sit in this exact spot for hours. I don’t even realize how time passes, because this window is always open and the breeze comes in and there’s lots of natural light,” she said. She also described how sunlight filtering through the glass creates rainbows in the afternoon, making the corner one of her favourite places in the house.

From the pink corridor to the baking-friendly kitchen

The apartment’s corridor connects several of its key spaces, including the compact but functional kitchen. Baby-blue shelves and white counters give the kitchen a softer look, while Panday has also embraced baking as one of her ways to unwind. The living room includes a separate television area with a growing collection of books. The dining space, meanwhile, benefits from the large windows and mirror elements that help maximise the available light. The overall design keeps the colour palette controlled while introducing different textures through wallpapers, fluted surfaces, upholstered furniture and rugs.

Ananya Panday says living alone taught her an important lesson

Beyond the interiors, the home has also become part of Panday’s transition into living independently. Initially, she was protective of the space and wanted to keep visitors away, joking that she wanted the apartment to remain like a museum. Over time, however, she discovered that having friends and family around made the apartment feel more like a home.“A big thing for me was learning how to be alone. Even if I’m just quiet and there’s noise around me, I don’t have to talk to someone all the time, which I really needed to do before this,” she said.Panday eventually began inviting loved ones over and realised that the space felt more complete when it was being lived in rather than simply preserved.

Ananya Panday’s work front

On the professional front, Ananya Panday was most recently seen in the romantic drama ‘Chand Mera Dil’ opposite Lakshya, produced by Dharma Productions. She will be seen in ‘Call Me Bae’ Season 2 alongside Vir Das, Varun Sood, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat and Muskkaan Jaferi. Season 1 premiered on Amazon Prime on 6 September 2024.
