Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has failed to get relief from Maharashtra Cyber, which refused his request to postpone questioning in a case linked to alleged objectionable remarks at a concert. He was summoned today, October 16, but had asked to appear on October 22 instead.

Cyber Cell refuses to give more time

According to ANI, Honey Singh told the authorities he could not present himself because he is currently abroad. The request did not find favour with officials. A senior Maharashtra Cyber Cell officer indicated that if the singer skips the summons once again, steps to issue a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him could be set in motion. The singer had earlier sought extra time from the investigating officer after he missed the questioning scheduled for October 5. Citing Maharashtra Cyber sources, ANI reported that he did not turn up despite being summoned three times. The latest summons asked him to be present on October 16.

What is the complaint about?

The summons follows a complaint filed by an individual who objected to comments the rapper allegedly made while performing at a concert. Acting on this complaint, Maharashtra Cyber asked him to come in for questioning. The matter is still under investigation, and more details are awaited.

Earlier legal trouble over ‘Volume 1’

This is not the first time the singer has landed in a controversy. In May this year, the Delhi High Court asked him to file an affidavit after an organisation, Hindu Shakti Dal, moved a petition claiming he performed an objectionable song at a stadium show in 2025.The petition concerns his early underground track ‘Volume 1’, which the rapper has since disowned. The petitioner, however, told the court that he sang two lines from it at a public concert at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on March 1, 2025. The petitioner also stated that the song was released in 2006 by Honey Singh and Badshah. On April 2, the Delhi High Court asked the Centre to get the URLs of ‘Volume 1’ removed from all social media and sharing platforms. The court observed that the track is obscene, vulgar and derogatory towards women, and cannot be defended in the name of artistic freedom or freedom of speech and expression.
