But trouble soon finds them both, drawing them back to their New England town to confront a family curse that refuses to stay buried. The trailer opens with Sally’s narration: “I’m sure you’ve heard of the Owens family, the ones from Massachusetts, the ones their neighbours whisper are witches.” When Lee Pace’s character meets the sisters, Sally tells him, “Everyone we love dies.” Gillian follows up with characteristic wit: “A really horrible death. It’s not great for the Tinder bio.” In another scene on a train, Gillian reassures the group that “Everything’s going to be okay,” prompting Sally to fire back, “Everything’s going to be okay? Just like it was when we had to bury a corpse under a rose bush? That kind of fine, or different?”
