Yash‘s ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ had a massive opening, but the film is steadily showcasing a downward trend at the box office. Amidst the criticism from the audience and critics, the film received support from several industry voices. The latest to join the chorus of support is filmmaker Hemanth Rao, known for the ‘Sapta Saagaradaache Ello’ franchise, who took to X to praise the film’s ambition and performances.

Hemanth Rao praises Yash’s ‘Toxic’

Hemanth Rao specifically highlighted the film’s final act and Yash’s portrayal of the older version of his character, Raya. He wrote, “Storytelling is about convictions and being brave. Very few walk that path. From producer, director to actors, I’m so amazed by so many decisions that has gone into making #Toxic a reality. What beautiful performances by everybody and man oh man…Raya, the older madder version was soo good. For me, the last half hour was beautiful. Its definitely calls for a big screen experience. Collaboration buzz with YashThe post has fuelled online speculation that Yash and Hemanth Rao could team up for a project after Ramayana. Neither has confirmed anything, but fans are already excited, citing Hemanth’s strength in character-driven cinema and Yash’s recent inclination towards experimental roles.

More industry voices back ‘Toxic’

Hemanth Rao’s praise follows similar support from other prominent Kannada film personalities. Upendra was among the first major names to publicly endorse the film, while Kichcha Sudeep and Rishab Shetty have also voiced their appreciation for Yash and the project.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, who also co-wrote the film with Yash, ‘Toxic’ stars Yash as Raya alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Akshay Oberoi. Shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, it released in dubbed Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions on August 26.

Box office update

As per Sacnilk, ‘Toxic’s India gross stands at Rs 264.80 crore, with India net collections at Rs 221.55 crore on Day 6. The worldwide gross has crossed Rs 304.05 crore.
