Ankit Balyan death: All Indian Cine Workers Association seeks justice for Haryanvi singer

Four armed assailants shot and killed Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Balyan outside a gym in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district on Wednesday evening. Following the brutal murder, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded justice and written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, seeking a time-bound investigation into the killing.

AICWA pens note demanding justice

The All Indian Cine Workers Association shared an official statement on their X account on Friday, seeking justice for the singer’s murder. It read, “AICWA DEMANDS JUSTICE FOR ANKIT BALIYAN. Haryanvi singer & YouTuber Ankit Baliyan, aged 32, was brutally murdered in broad daylight outside a gym in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. Four armed assailants reportedly fired nearly 18 rounds, killing the young singer.”The statement further noted that the incident had raised concerns over the growing fearlessness of mafia and criminal elements, adding that Ankit’s family, supporters and villagers had staged a protest with his body, demanding justice. AICWA said it has written to CM Yogi Adityanath “demanding a high-level and time-bound investigation, identification of everyone behind the killing, strict action against the criminal and mafia elements involved, and justice for Ankit Baliyan and his family.” The statement was signed off by AICWA president Er. Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, who wrote, “AICWA stands for justice. The killers must be brought to justice.”

How Ankit Balyan was killed

The incident took place around 7 pm near the Aryapuri drain embankment. Police said Balyan was shot at least 18 times, sustaining five bullet injuries. He was 32. ADG Meerut, Bhanu Bhaskar, told ANI, “The victim was a singer named Ankit Baliyan… He was a well-known singer with many videos on YouTube. He had been working out at a fitness gym; as he stepped out—around 6:55 PM—four unidentified individuals arrived in two vehicles and opened fire. He sustained gunshot injuries. Although police personnel were present and immediately rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC), the doctors were unable to save him.”

Gogi Gang claims responsibility

According to a report by ANI, the Gogi Gang has claimed responsibility for Balyan’s killing through a viral social media post. The post claims Ankit had created a song with a theme similar to the killing of gangster Jitendra Gogi, who was shot dead inside Rohini Court. Shamli SP NP Singh confirmed police are investigating the post and probing whether an old dispute was behind the murder.
