Mark Mortimer, who was best known for his role as Nick Hudson on the popular soap opera ‘Another World,’ has passed away. The star had been battling cancer for some time and was 57 years old at the time of his passing.

The news of Mortimer’s passing was confirmed by his family through the obituary that they had shared online. They revealed that he had fought a battle and had a “fearless journey with cancer” and that he left for his heavenly abode surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 57.Remembering his legacy, the obituary recalled all of the roles he fulfilled in life, writing, “He was an Army veteran, a model, an actor, an entrepreneur, and a builder. He was a husband, father, son, brother, and friend.” They also added, “He was curious and determined, willing to take chances, start something new, change direction, and figure things out along the way. Of all the titles Mark held throughout his life, the two that mattered most to him were husband and dad.”They provided more details about his battle with cancer, confirming that he had been diagnosed with the disease back in 2024; however, they did not specify what type of cancer he had been diagnosed with. The obituary further read, “Mark chose to use what he was experiencing to help others. Together, Mark and Christie founded the Integrative Access Foundation, created to give people facing cancer access to integrative therapies that might otherwise be financially out of reach. What began in the middle of their own difficult journey became a mission of hope for other families.”

Who was Mark Mortimer?

Mark Mortimer was born on April 15, 1967, in Yorkville, Ill., and was a beloved and retired soap opera star who made his acting debut in the TV industry with ‘Another World.’ He was cast as Nick Hudson and was the third actor who portrayed the role on the show after Justin Chambers and Kevin McClatchy. He appeared in over 81 episodes over the course of three years. He also briefly appeared in ‘Spin City’ in 1999 and in the film ‘The Nowhere Man’ before he officially retired from his acting career.Beyond acting, he and his wife, Christie, along with their business partner Dave, started their own construction business together. When he was diagnosed with cancer, his wife started the Integrative Access Foundation with the aim to make integrative therapies more accessible and affordable for people with cancer who may not normally be able to afford it.Mortimer is survived by his wife, Christie; his daughter, Hunter; his mother, Sharlene Pearson; his father, Emil (Belinda) Mortimer, as well as his siblings: Micheal Mortimer, Michele (Bill) Doyle, Martin (Shannon) Mortimer, Melissa (Bob) Gassmann, David Mortimer, Tyler Mortimer, and lastly his in-laws, John and Barbara Allen, Chad (Jeanne) Allen, and Beth Allen.
