A few days ago, Netflix confirmed that the upcoming season will focus heavily on Francesca and Michaela, portrayed by Hannah Dodd and Masali Baduza, respectively. The story will be set two years after Lord John Stirling’s death, when Francesca decides to enter the marriage mart again. However, with Stirling’s sister, Michaela, returning to London to deal with the Kilmartin estate, Francesca’s hidden feelings come rushing to the shore.While the leads have been confirmed, there are quite a few other updates for the upcoming season that have shocked many people.
New joinees of ‘Bridgerton’ season 5
Lord Anderson’s son will be played by actor Tega Alexander, who is best known for his work in ‘Red Eye’ and ‘MobLand.’ Jacqueline Boatswain will play the role of Helen Stirling. She is best known for ‘Grange Hill’ and ‘Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators,’ and lastly, Gemma Knight Jones will play the role of Lady Elizabeth Ashworth. There are a lot of beloved faces who will be making their big return to the fifth season of the beloved show. This includes Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton, Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich, and Martin Imhangbe as Will Mondrich.One of the biggest changes for the coming season is seemingly Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Bridgerton. The actress recently expressed gratitude for the show and everything it has helped her achieve. She did confirm that fans will be able to catch a glimpse of the retired Lady Whistledown in the coming season; she will only be returning for a brief cameo role. Talking to PureWow, the actress commented, “I’ve had a really amazing year. I’ve been very, very lucky. I’m still filming on Bridgerton in more of a cameo role this time, but it’s just been a joy to come back and see everybody.” Along with her confirmed cameo role, Luke Newton may possibly join the show as Colin Bridgerton.While it has not been entirely confirmed, Florence Hunt will return as Hyacinth Bridgerton, along with Will Tilston playing Gregory Bridgerton, one of the Bridgerton brothers. Other than that, Jonathan Bailey may return as Anthony Bridgerton, though he may only appear briefly, just like his appearance in season 4. In an old interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor commented on how he never wanted to leave the show, sharing, “I’ve never been someone who’s like, ‘Thanks, bye.’ It’s not in my nature. There’s a real sense of brotherly pride I feel in it.” He added, “I look forward to, in another, however many years, when we’ve done the eighth season, to sit around and be like, ‘Look what we all did together.’” During the interview, however, he also mentioned that Anthony might not be needed on the show, or scheduling issues might affect his appearance.
