Megastar Chiranjeevi’s praise for Jason Sanjay became one of the highlights of the Hyderabad pre-release event of ‘Sigma’. Speaking as the chief guest, Chiranjeevi recalled his first meeting with the debutant filmmaker and said Jason’s appearance immediately reminded him of his father, actor-turned-politician Vijay, during his younger days.

As reported by Filmibeat, Chiranjeevi recalled meeting Jason for the first time and said his appearance took him back to the period when Vijay was still establishing himself in the film industry.“When he came to meet me, he reminded me of his father Vijay during 1993-94,” Chiranjeevi said.The veteran actor also revealed that he had asked Jason whether he wanted to pursue acting or direction. Jason, however, made his preference clear, telling Chiranjeevi that his real interest lay in writing and filmmaking.

Chiranjeevi also spoke about the filmmaking lineage Jason comes from. He pointed out that the young director has chosen a creative path closely connected to his grandparents, filmmaker S. A. Chandrasekhar and writer Shoba.“S S Chandrasekhar was a very good director, while his wife Shoba garu penned scripts. Sanjay is taking forward the skills of his grandparents. He has inherited those genes and has turned director,” he said.Chiranjeevi has previously worked with S. A. Chandrasekhar, giving him a long-standing association with Vijay’s family. His remarks therefore placed Jason’s debut within a film legacy spanning several generations, while also acknowledging the filmmaker’s decision to work behind the camera.

The Megastar also recalled watching Vijay’s journey from his early years in cinema to becoming one of Tamil cinema’s leading stars. He said he hoped Jason would similarly find his own path and achieve his ambitions as a filmmaker.“I have seen his father Vijay rise to meteoric heights as an actor, and I wish Jason Sanjay also achieves his goals as a director. I think his debut film Sigma will pave the way for his dreams,” Chiranjeevi said.

Jason Sanjay has previously addressed his father Vijay’s involvement in the promotional campaign for Sigma. He said Vijay is looking forward to watching the film but will not actively promote it. Jason explained that Vijay’s responsibilities as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister were one reason for his absence from the promotional campaign. He also said he wanted the focus to remain on the film and its cast and crew rather than on his father’s presence.“My father is waiting for the release of Sigma. He won’t be promoting my film. I want the promotions to be about the film and not him. I don’t want it to overlap,” Jason said at a press interaction.At a recent ‘Sigma’ event, Jason Sanjay also acknowledged the support of his parents and sister, thanking his father Vijay, mother Sangeetha and sister Divya Saasha.
‘Sigma’ marks Jason Sanjay’s first film as a director
‘Sigma’, starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah, is scheduled to release theatrically on October 2. Jason Sanjay is making his feature directorial debut with the film, which is produced by Lyca Productions.
