More about the case against Thomas Markle Sr.

Earlier this week the outlet had reported that Meghan Markle’s father is under public scrutiny and is being investigated on the allegations of possessing materials related to child sexual abuse. The discovery of such content was reportedly made by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., the Duchess of Sussex’s half-brother.These contents were found at his home in Cebu, Philippines, separated in four large boxes that contained “hundreds, if not thousands” of child sexual abuse images, as reported by the outlet. The incident occurred earlier this year on July 10, after which Thomas Jr. “reported his discovery to the FBI Hotline, the US-based National Centre for Exploited and Missing Children, and the state police in Pennsylvania, where his father was living.”He also gave a statement to the outlet about the ongoing matter, revealing, “What I saw made me sick to the stomach—all this stuff was just dumped on me, and I didn’t know what to do. I knew right away it was highly illegal and would land me in jail for a long time if I didn’t get rid of it. I felt betrayed, angry, and disgusted—and realized I had to report him.”On the other hand, PEOPLE reported that Markle was “deeply distressed” over the matter and that her heart was with the children who have suffered because of all of this. She also revealed to the outlet that in 2018, a letter had been shared with the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection about many allegations against her father, and that when she found out about the letter, she was reassured that the matter is under investigation. Her statement further continued, “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children was for one reason: to protect them.”Markle had been aware of the letter since after her wedding to Prince Harry. At the time, she was advised against publicly speaking about the matter. While her father is under investigation over the matter, the MPS is also conducting an internal investigation to track and find out what happened with the letter and why it was not pursued more seriously.
