Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s action thriller ‘Spirit’, starring Prabhas, will reportedly arrive in theatres on the Diwali 2027 weekend. The announcement had sparked talk of a clash with Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’, which was also planned for the same period. However, a new report says there is no rivalry between the two and that the date was picked with Ranbir’s knowledge.
Not a clash, but a friendship
When Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced the Diwali 2027 release a couple of days ago, many on the internet saw it as a face-off between him and Ranbir Kapoor. But according to the Bollywood Hungama report, the two are very close friends and are the “Jai-Veeru of Indian Film Industry”.As per the report, Ranbir Kapoor already knew that ‘Ramayana 2’ could be delayed. “Ranbir Kapoor was aware that there could be a delay in the release of Ramayana 2. When Ranbir was officially informed of the delay, he took no time to pick up the call on his dear friend, Sandeep Reddy Vanga,” a report stated.
How the Diwali date for Prabhas’ ‘Spirit’ was locked
The report added that Sandeep Reddy Vanga is thankful to Ranbir Kapoor for sharing the information early. It added, “The minute Vanga got the news of the delay, he made a quick decision to arrive on Diwali 2027 before anyone else took the date. Bhushan Kumar was in agreement, as he always is with Vanga, and the two people announced the date.”
New ‘Ramayana 2’ date is expected soon
The new release date for ‘Ramayana 2’ is likely to be announced soon. According to the report, it may be revealed in the post-credit scene of the first ‘Ramayana’ film on Diwali. Earlier reports had said that the makers were considering moving the sequel to Diwali 2028 to get more time for filming the big war sequences.
