In a significant development, Pradeep Kumar, also known as Gaath, was apprehended in Agra by the Uttar Pradesh STF in collaboration with the Mumbai Police Crime Branch. Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force’s joint team, along with the Mumbai Police Crime Branch, arrested a wanted criminal linked to the firing at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai residence in Agra on Thursday. The teams apprehended the accused, identified as Pradeep Kumar alias Gaath, from the Chhadami Mattha area on the Agra-Etah road on Thursday afternoon. The arrest marks another major breakthrough in a case tied to the notorious Shubham Lonkar gang.

According to PTI, Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Ashok Nagar in Agra, was caught at 3:56 pm under the Bah police station limits. Rakesh, Additional Superintendent of Police, STF Field Unit, Agra, supervised the operation. According to an official statement, “The arrest was the result of technical analysis and intelligence sharing between the Mumbai crime branch and the Uttar Pradesh STF.”Investigators revealed that the accused was radicalized into gang activity through the Lonkar gang’s presence on Facebook and Instagram. He admitted to taking part in the crime alongside associates Sunny, Deepu, and Sonu in a bid to establish “dominance” in the underworld.

Pradeep Kumar is the ninth person arrested in connection with the case. Eight others, including Pradeep Sharma alias Golu, Deepak, and Vishnu Kushwaha, were previously apprehended in joint operations between Mumbai Police and other agencies.Following Thursday’s arrest, the accused was handed over to the Mumbai Police team at Bah Police Station. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch is expected to take him on transit remand as legal proceedings move forward.

The firing incident took place on the night of February 1, 2026, at Shetty Tower in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Police say the attack was orchestrated by the Shubham Lonkar gang with the twin intent of extorting money and spreading fear within the film industry and among the general public. Mumbai Police subsequently registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act, the Maharashtra Police Act, and the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
