Sandra Bullock is an Oscar winner and a Hollywood A-lister. However, there was a time when she also found herself struggling to land roles. In her latest chat with Jennifer Aniston, the actress, who will be seen in ‘Practical Magic 2’, opened up about the challenges she faced early in her acting career, and also recalled her uncomfortable audition experiences.
Sandra Bullock recalls exiting auditions
In conversation for Interview magazine, Aniston asked Bullock if there was ever a point when she “made a deliberate choice about the kind of career [she] wanted.” To this, Bullock recalled her years as an aspiring actor in New York, when she worked as a waitress while auditioning for roles. “I was in New York, I was a waitress, I was auditioning for every pervert that existed asking me to drop my pants. I was like, ‘Nope, not the role for me’,” Bullock said.The actor explained that, like many performers trying to establish themselves, she was determined to keep working despite the uncertainty that comes with an acting career. “I was working my way up. Every working actor thinks you will never work again so you just take what you can get and make the most of it,” she said.

Bullock also recalled a point in her career when she made a conscious decision to move away from romantic comedies. The actor, who had become one of Hollywood’s biggest rom-com stars with her films like ‘While You Were Sleeping’ (1995), ‘Two If by Sea’ (1996) and ‘Two Weeks Notice’ (2002), ‘Miss Congeniality’ (2000) and ‘Two Weeks Notice’, however, took a dramatic turn.“The only time I was intentional about my career was when I said, ‘I need to stop right now with the rom-coms,’ because I was getting so much shit for them,” Bullock said.“And I took a role in this film called ‘Crash’… I wanted to start flexing other muscles,” she added. The film went on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Jennifer Aniston jokes about ‘sharing a boyfriend’
During the chat, the two also joked about ‘sharing a boyfriend’. Before the two became BFFs, they each dated actor Tate Donovan in the 1990s.“We’ve shared a boyfriend,” Aniston quipped to Bullock “That’s how much we love each other.”
