The actor made the remark while appearing on Shekhar Suman’s show on Gandhi Jayanti, where he spoke about his hopes for greater harmony in the country. His comments quickly circulated on social media, with several users criticising him and bringing up aspects of his past.

Speaking about the country druing a chat with Shekhar Suman on his show ‘Shekhar Tonite’ , Sanjay Dutt said he hoped India would return to a more peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. The actor praised Indians for being “large-hearted” and hospitable before expressing his concern over the current situation.Dutt said, “The people of this country are so lovely. There should be peace here. I can’t feel that peace in our country anymore. We Indians are large-hearted people, and we are hospitable. We have given so much, and we should always remain that way. I pray to Shivji that those days come back soon.”

Netizens revisit Sanjay Dutt’s controversial past

The actor’s comments soon drew reactions online. Several social media users brought up his past legal troubles, including his arrest and conviction for illegal possession of an AK-56 rifle and a 9 mm pistol in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. He was acquitted of the more serious TADA charges.Some users also referred to Sanjay’s previously documented struggle with drug addiction while reacting to his comments about peace in the country.One user wrote, “He finds peace only when he helps the terrorists, it seems. Sanjay Dutt imagines himself as India’s Prime Minister

During another segment of the conversation, Shekhar Suman asked Sanjay Dutt to imagine that he had become the prime minister of India for five minutes and share a message with the country’s citizens. The actor responded by slipping into the popular Munnabhai persona, using the character’s trademark Mumbaiya style while imagining himself addressing the nation.He said, “Chalo desh mein kuch to chal rehla hai. Mere pyaare deshwasiyo, aaj apun aapka PM banke khub khush hua. Bole to body mein ajeeb type ka tarang daud re la hai. Bole to itna bada desh hai, itne saare log hain aur ab hum sabki zimmedari apun ke upar.” (Come on, at least something is happening in the country. On the work front, Sanjay Dutt is set to feature in ‘Khalnayak 2’. The actor is also reportedly expected to return to the ‘Munna Bhai’ franchise with ‘Munna Bhai 3’, although details about the project remain limited.
