Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next to star Kareena Kapoor and Dhanush; director S Mithran reveals update

Director S Mithran confirmed in a recent interview that Dhanush and Kareena Kapoor are in advanced talks to headline a Hindi film backed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The project would mark the first on-screen collaboration between Dhanush and Kareena, and would also be the first time either actor works with Bhansali.

While promoting his upcoming sequel ‘Sardar 2’ in a conversation with Cinema Vikatan, S Mithran shared, “Talks are underway, we are looking at the dates for confirmation. Hopefully, something good will come out of it.”

Kareena Kapoor’s film reportedly a mythological jungle adventure

The film, which has been making waves across both Bollywood and South Indian industry circles since early August, is reportedly envisioned as a large-scale mythological adventure set in a jungle terrain. According to Bollywood Hungama, the script is still being written, having gone through several rewrites on its way to being finalised. While pre-production is expected to commence in November 2026, the shoot is likely to begin in January 2027. Should the project take off, it would be S Mithran’s first film as a Bollywood director.

Kareena Kapoor yet to officially sign the project

Kareena, however, has not yet been officially confirmed for the role, and no statement in this regard has come from her end.

Dhanush’s growing list of Hindi projects

As for Dhanush, this film would mark yet another addition to his growing list of Hindi projects, as his career continues to shuttle between Tamil and Bollywood cinema. He last tasted major success in Bollywood with Aanand L Rai‘s 2025 film ‘Tere Ishk Mein’.
