Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has paid tribute to Nana Patekar following the veteran actor’s demise at the age of 75. Sharing a still from their 2003 film ‘Darna Mana Hai’, Vivek reflected on his memories of working with Nana and his father’s earlier association with the actor.Vivek’s father, Suresh Oberoi, shared screen space with Nana Patekar in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Parinda’, released in 1989. Years later, Vivek worked with Nana in the horror anthology ‘Darna Mana Hai’. Remembering the veteran actor in a post on X, Vivek wrote, “Some losses are impossible to put into words…”

Vivek Oberoi recalls working with Nana Patekar

Vivek Oberoi spoke about the connection between his father’s experience of working with Nana Patekar and his own opportunity to collaborate with the actor. He expressed gratitude for having witnessed Nana’s talent as a co-star.“Dad worked with you in Parinda, and years later, I had the honour of sharing screen space with you in Darna Mana Hai. I feel truly blessed to have experienced your brilliance and your presence as an actor,” he wrote.The photograph shared by Vivek was from ‘Darna Mana Hai’, directed by Prawaal Raman and produced by Ram Gopal Varma. The 2003 anthology horror film featured Nana Patekar as John Rodrigues and Vivek Oberoi as Amar.

Vivek Oberoi also opened up on the lasting impact of Nana Patekar’s work and the memories he leaves behind. The actor described the loss as difficult to accept and highlighted the veteran’s enduring legacy.“Saying goodbye feels incredibly difficult. Some people leave behind memories; some leave behind a legacy that can never be replaced,” Vivek wrote on X. He also remembered Nana’s warmth beyond his performances. “Nana sir, it’s hard to imagine not seeing that beautiful smile of yours again. I will always cherish the memories and the honour of having worked with you,” he added. Vivek concluded his message with, “You will be deeply missed. Om Shanti 🙏.”

Nana Patekar’s death draws tributes

Nana Patekar passed away on October 8 at his residence in Goa after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 75. His death prompted tributes from colleagues, admirers and members of the film fraternity across Hindi and Marathi cinema.The veteran actor’s last rites were held at his farmhouse in Pune on Thursday, with full state honours. Amitabh Bachchan honoured Nana Patekar through a special segment on Season 18 of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. The megastar highlighted Nana’s candour, humility and simplicity, along with his efforts to support farmers.Riteish Deshmukh expressed shock over the loss and remembered Nana’s contributions both on and off screen. He wrote, “Feels like a truck has hit me. An actor par excellence, incomparable to anyone… He was a hero off-screen too, and worked tirelessly through his charity for the good of the people.” Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar’s co-star in the comedy ‘Welcome’, also mourned his death. Nana’s portrayal of Uday Shetty in the film remains one of his most recognisable comic roles.Alia Bhatt remembered the veteran actor’s ability to move audiences through his performances. Sharing her message on social media, she wrote, “Farewell Nana, you have made the world laugh, cry, and feel so much more in between. No one like you.”
