Tom Cruise is reportedly set to take to the skies once again, this time with ‘Top Gun 3’. According to the latest buzz, the actor is poised to secure one of the biggest paydays in Hollywood history as he prepares to reprise his iconic role as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in ‘Top Gun 3’.Daily Mail reports that the actor, who previously earned an estimated GBP 75 million for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022), the blockbuster sequel to the 1986 original, is now set to cross the GBP 100 million bar, largely due to a lucrative deal. As per the report, Cruise is expected to score the huge paycheque for the third instalment. In addition to starring, he will also return as a producer on the franchise, and is also expected to get a share of the film’s box office profits.Cruise is said to be receiving an upfront salary of approximately GBP 18 million, along with around 8 per cent of the film’s profits. If ‘Top Gun 3’ is able to hit the GBP 1 billion mark, Cruise stands to get an estimated GBP 75 million from just the profits. If the numbers add up, Cruise will join a long list of stars like Robert Downey Jr who reportedly scored a USD 100 million paycheque for his return to the MUC in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Actor Ryan Reynolds also earned an estimated USD 100 million total for the billion-dollar hit ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’.Cruise is also no stranger to the USD 100 million club, he previously took a massive cut of box office and streaming revenue for films including ‘Mission: Impossible 2’ and ‘War of the Worlds’.It was announced last week that a third part of the hit franchise was in the works, with a film is slated for a summer 2028 release. The news was officially confirmed by Josh Greenstein, during CinemaCon in Las Vegas last week. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Cruise and co-writer Ehren Kruger are already developing the script.Directed by Joseph Kosinski, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ also featured Miles Teller and Glen Powell as young pilots mentored by Cruise’s character. While Cruise is reportedly set for his return, it is unclear if the supporting cast will be brought back for the third part.
