Yash starrer 'Toxic- A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups' OTT deal value crashes to Rs 30 crore following its box office debacle - Report

‘Toxic- A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups’, directed by Geetu Mohandas and led by an ensemble cast including Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth, was widely tipped to be among the year’s biggest hits. That prediction fell short, however, as the film’s promising start gave way to a sharp decline at the box office, leaving it labelled a flop. The setback could also affect its digital release plans, given reports that no OTT deal had been sealed before the theatrical launch.

Toxic‘s OTT offer drops from Rs 200 crore to Rs 30 crore

According to Bollywood Hungama, an OTT platform had reportedly offered the ‘Toxic’ team Rs 150 crore for the film’s post-theatrical streaming rights before its release. However, the makers held out for Rs 200 crore, with Yash reportedly confident that a strong box office run would help the film command that higher figure once released. The digital players are now offering an amount as low as Rs. 30 crore for the post-theatrical streaming rights for all languages. The biggest offer has come from Zee 5. Reportedly, the makers are also considering a fresh edit for the digital release in hopes of pushing the OTT offer higher.

Toxic’s OTT deal remains unconfirmed

However, no official word has been shared yet regarding Toxic’s OTT deal.

Toxic’s box office collection so far

‘Toxic’ opened to Rs 101.10 crore net (all languages) in India, but its box office run soon began to taper off. By day 12, the film had earned Rs 2.42 crore net (all languages), pushing its domestic net total to Rs 245.75 crore. The film’s worldwide gross, meanwhile, stands at Rs 337.80 crore.
