Vidyut Jammwal has broken his silence on the conversation he shared with Tiger Shroff in the wake of last month’s firing incident in Mumbai. Recently, he spoke about the impact the episode could have on Tiger, why he felt compelled to call out the bystanders who saw the attack, and how he took it when his video became a meme on the internet.
Vidyut Jammwal urges Tiger Shroff not to restrict himself
Speaking about his chat with Tiger on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, The Ranveer Show, Vidyut said he could understand the pressure the actor must be under. He urged Tiger not to let the incident make him “restrict himself”, or push him to give up football and fitness videos out of fear of trolling. Vidyut advised him to keep doing everything that had made him “this brilliant”, and even suggested he could emerge as a fitter version of himself.Vidyut said Tiger was naturally under stress after the incident. According to him, being shot at is something no one can truly comprehend, and he likened it to what soldiers face in the army, where they know someone is trying to kill them. He added that there is no set way to respond to such trauma, so Tiger shouldn’t feel obliged to act in any particular way. “He is stressed, and he has every reason to be. There has been an attempt to murder him, so it cannot be a normal experience. Nobody in the world can say they have seen a shooter fire at them from such close quarters. It is not an experience anyone can fathom,” he said.
Vidyut Jammwal explains why he posted the video
He also shed light on why he put out a video after hearing about the firing incident. He said his talk with Tiger, especially the actor’s description of “isolating himself from everybody around”, left him distressed. What infuriated him the most, though, was that the people at the scene did nothing to step in.
Vidyut Jammwal questions why no one ran to help
The actor clarified that he wasn’t asking everyone to take on an armed attacker, but felt that “one hero” could have changed things. He said even Tiger’s driver or a bystander could have tried to stop the assailant. He wondered why no one seemed to step up, even though several people were around and filming the incident. “My question was, why did nobody run? There were 100 cameras. Everybody had a video, but there was no attempt to do anything. That upset me, and that is the whole reason I posted the video,” he said.
Vidyut Jammwal reacts to memes and trolling
Vidyut also responded to the memes and trolling that followed his video, saying he genuinely enjoyed the internet’s reaction. He recalled bragging about never having been trolled while he was in America, only to end up at the centre of a meme fest. “God heard me very quickly,” he joked. Vidyut said he stayed off social media for the first two days because he was at a yoga university, and when he logged on the third night, he was amused by how creative the memes were. He realised that people were using his video as a way to let off steam. He started sharing the memes himself because he found them funny. He said the trolling didn’t affect him, since he understood what lay behind it, and he felt good about the way he had dealt with the situation.
What happened in the Tiger Shroff firing incident
On October 18, three unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly fired several rounds at Tiger Shroff’s car near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu. The actor was returning from a game of football at the time. Tiger escaped the gunfire, though he reportedly sustained minor abrasions, while his driver and a passerby were hit by bullets and taken to hospital. The attackers fled the spot on the bike. Mumbai Police filed a case and started an investigation, and three accused have been arrested in connection with the firing.
Vidyut Jammwal’s original video after the firing
After the incident, Vidyut posted a video in which he lauded Tiger’s bravery but wondered why those present at the spot hadn’t tried to step in. He voiced his disappointment that no one made an attempt to stop the attacker even though many people saw it happen. “All those fans, someone should have run… someone should have caught them (the shooters). ‘I love you, I am your biggest fan.’ What is this, guys? We do our part; you should do something too,” he said in the video. He also called on the Mumbai Police to make sure such an incident wasn’t repeated. The video became a hot topic on social media, with many users making memes out of his remarks.
