Vikram and Gautham Menon's 'Dhruva Natchathiram' gets EXTRA DEADLINE; Court grants more time for release

After years of uncertainty, hopes have once again risen for the release of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram.’ The long-delayed spy thriller directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and starring Vikram has received another positive development in court. The film has remained unreleased despite being completed several years ago, mainly due to financial and legal hurdles. With the latest court order, fans are once again hopeful that one of Tamil cinema’s most-awaited projects will finally make its way to theatres.

Court extends deadline for ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ release

In the latest hearing, the Madras High Court extended the deadline for releasing ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ until July 31. Earlier, the court had permitted the makers to release the film before June 15, while directing them to deposit the film’s earnings into a separate bank account so that dues to creditors could be settled. As reported by Cinema Express, the court had also observed that the makers could seek additional time if the film was not released within the original deadline. Since the release could not happen as planned, Gautham Menon‘s team approached the court once again, following which Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy granted an extension until the end of July.

Financial dispute delayed the film for years

The legal battle dates back to the financial issues surrounding another Gautham Menon film, ‘Enai Noki Paayum Thota.’ Producer Madan, who held a 50 percent stake in ‘Dhruva Natchathiram,’ had transferred his share to financiers as part of a financial arrangement. Later, the financiers moved the court seeking to prevent the film’s release until their dues were cleared, resulting in an interim stay. These disputes pushed back the release repeatedly, leaving the ambitious action thriller stuck despite being ready for audiences.

Fans hope Vikram-Gautham Menon film finally sees the light of day

‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ features an ensemble cast including Ritu Varma, Parthiban Radhakrishnan, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Simran, with music composed by Harris Jayaraj. Nearly nine years after production began, the latest court order has renewed optimism among fans. If all the pending formalities are completed within the new deadline, the long-awaited Vikram starrer could finally hit the big screen, ending one of the longest release delays in Tamil cinema.
